A History of Growth: Our roots in the community go back to 1956, when Chandler was a farming town of just 9,500 and the nearest hospital was miles away in Mesa. Local Lions Club efforts and community donations brought Chandler Regional Hospital to life in July of 1961. A new and expanded Chandler Regional Hospital was completed in March, 1984 to meet the needs of our growing community. In 1991, we expanded our Family Birth Center and Level II Nursery. 1992 saw the growth of our Emergency and Trauma II Center, as well as the addition of a permanent MRI unit. The hospital's Surgery Department underwent a major renovation and expansion in 1993. Finally, to ensure better health and quality of life throughout the community, CHR developed innovative outreach programs such as Chandler Kid Care, free immunization clinics, public health seminars, and outpatient health centers.
