Making the Best Connections
In today’s competitive market, potential employees going into interviews have a task at hand. They are in a position to not only sell themselves, but to be sold on the company at the other side of the table.
There is a new emphasis on learning more about the potential employer: The people practices, including staff morale, benefits packages and overall corporate culture. Companies that excel in these areas not only attract the best workers they also boost their bottom line and save time and money by increasing employee retention rates.
The Best Company Connection
Financial Performance
There is a positive connection between progressive people practices and increased financial performance according to research over the past five years. Publicly held companies on Fortune magazine’s “100 Best Companies to Work for” historically have far outperformed the stick market averages over a recorded three-, five-, and 10-year period.
Employee Morale
Companies that are considered among the best places to work also realize increased employee retention and higher morale. At The Pointe Hilton Resorts, which topped the list of “Best Places to Work in the Valley” for companies with more than 250 employees three years in a row, the turnover rate is less than half the industry standard.
